Did you know that 1 in 5 adults in the UK are living with a common mental health problem?

Did you know that poor mental wellbeing costs UK businesses approximately £42 billion pounds each year through sickness absence, presenteeism, reduced productivity and staff turnover?

How do you feel when we say that the economic and social costs of mental ill health in the UK is now at a staggering £300 billion?

These statistics are huge numbers don’t you think? If you look around how many people do you know who are experiencing poor mental health or who have a mental health diagnosis? Mental health is a HUGE deal as it affects how we show up every day and go about our daily lives. However, not everyone feels comfortable talking about mental health, especially at work and a lot of managers feel out of depth when supporting their teams with mental wellbeing. How do you or your organisation feel about these conversations?

What we know from research is that support for mental health is declining due to less funding, which means there are more people in our communities that are struggling without that support. For many people, having someone who will listen to them really helps them to feel less isolated and more supported whilst they are waiting for professional help. For some, this is enough to help them find the strength to make changes to improve their mental health.

Mental health conversations should be easier. People should be able to talk about how they are feeling without the fear of judgement or repercussions. We should all feel confident to reach out to our family, friends or colleagues early, so that we don’t wait until someone is in crisis before we help.

Let’s make our organisations and communities inclusive for everyone where we feel safe and welcome, where everyone can thrive.

If you would like to become more confident in having mental health conversations then our workshops will give you the knowledge, skills and support to do that. The more people we have in our communities that are willing to listen, understand and be the voice for those who are not confident to speak up, the less people will be struggling in silence and will find the courage to get the help they need. Making our community and workplace places where people feel connected, supported and thrive.
